The design in its entirety
Design has no boundaries — and neither should your imagination.
As an interior designer with a background in architecture and interior architecture — after years of studying design principles, engaging in academic research, and dedicating myself to teaching and learning — I have discovered a profound truth:
Once you understand the principles of design and art, you can create anything.
It all begins with curiosity — the ability to recognize a need, a gap, or a problem.
And it comes to life through determination — the drive to transform ideas into reality.
Ideas are everywhere. We all have them. But what truly sets creators apart is the courage and persistence to bring those ideas to life. Turning a thought into something tangible — something that can be seen, touched, and experienced — is one of the most powerful acts of creation.
For years, I have filled countless sketchbooks with ideas — concepts I believed could become products, buildings, or spaces the world had yet to imagine.
I designed a perfume bottle inspired by the bond between a kangaroo and its baby — two integrated forms: one for everyday use, the other a detachable travel companion.
I created shoes sculpted with the language of architecture, and lightweight bags designed to ease the burden on shoulders and backs, born from my own experiences carrying heavy loads.
Each of these designs began with a small, personal insight — a real problem — and grew into something meaningful because I chose to act.
When a client approached me to bring his vision of a marina in Melaka to life, I translated his dream into a tangible reality — designing the form and layout that captured his idea and could inspire investors. In just a few days, imagination took shape.
And so, I have learned — and I hope you will too — that:
Once you master the principles of design, there are no limits.
Whether you are designing a piece of cutlery, a handbag, an airplane, a building, an interior space, a marina, or even an entire town — the foundation remains the same: an understanding of function, form, structure, utility, and detail.
Design has no boundaries — and neither should your imagination.
Dream boldly. Create fearlessly. Believe fiercely in the worlds you can build.
