At the heart of everything we do is a belief: that thoughtful design isn’t just seen—it’s created through critique, inquiry, and design principles. We push the boundaries with conceptual analogies of space. We design environments that don’t just make people feel—but make them think. And it starts with listening. So we listen closely. We ask the right questions. And we create spaces that reflect the people who live and work in them, while gently challenging the limits of what’s expected.
S + N Design Studio didn’t begin with a business plan—it began with a lifelong obsession with space, design, and the deeper “why” behind it all.
Before this studio existed, there were many beginnings. My journey started in academia, where I immersed myself in architectural theory, conceptual design, and spatial thinking—not just learning how to design, but how to think about design. That hunger for ideas never left. It’s what led me to teaching, and what continues to inspire my work today: the creative energy that comes from dialogue, experimentation, and challenging the status quo.
S + N Design Studio is the natural evolution of all those experiences. A studio shaped by years of teaching, collaborating, building, and staying curious. Based in Vancouver, our mindset is international and imaginative—we work across Australia, the UK, Malaysia, Iran, and beyond.
We work closely with clients who value design not just as aesthetics—but as spatial thinking. We don’t simply shape environments; we create moments that ask the mind to pause, reflect, and engage.
Design is an ongoing conversation—between mind, space, and the elements that shape our environment. For us, design is a way of living.

Meet the Founder
Sonia Namdarian
Founder & Principal, S + N Design Studio Inc.
Sonia Namdrian is the founder and principal of S+N Design Studio Inc., a Vancouver-based interior architecture studio working across residential, commercial, and mixed-use environments.
With over 17 years of international experience and NCIDQ certification, Sonia brings a rare balance of conceptual depth and technical precision to her work. Educated in interior architecture in Malaysia and the United Kingdom and holding a Master of Architecture Science, she has led more than 80 projects globally, from private residences to 800+ unit multi-residential developments, hospitality, institutional, and industrial spaces.
Her approach positions interior design as a spatial strategy, not decoration. She integrates building code knowledge, systems coordination, sustainability, and design thinking to create environments that are both intellectually rigorous and deeply human.
Sonia is a professional member of the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and has represented IIDA in Vancouver since 2021 as a volunteer champion of the IIDA, a centre that supports the design community, offering advocacy, mentorship, networking events, and collaboration to professionals and students. Her overall goal is the advancement of the profession by connecting the dots.
Alongside practice, she teaches and mentors emerging designers at LaSalle and VCAD in Vancouver, continuously shaping the next generation of spatial thinkers as emerging designers. All she does falls on the thread of thought is that she loves to create, grow, and bring others to the picture by educating them and inviting them to contribute and give.
She simply defines the reason why she does what she does as she cares. Under her leadership, S+N Design Studio continues to explore how design can elevate well-being and connection, transforming ordinary spaces into experiences that feel timeless, grounded, and alive.
