The transformation of the 1939-built shop lots into Tokong Hotel was envisioned as a poetic dialogue between past and present—an artistic revival that honors Melaka’s layered cultural history while breathing new life into its architecture by Business partner Architect Hau Woon San’s. With power and freedom to reimagine the space, we rooted our concept in the local Baba-Nyonya heritage, preserving the soul of the original Art Deco façade while weaving in contemporary interventions that allow the building to narrate its story in a new architectural language. The strict UNESCO conservation requirements became a canvas for creative restraint.
